I finally got the 300 back from paint and now seem to have no time to work on it but I won't bore you with the details. I decided to take a job home with me and work on it in the evening. Tonight I worked to repairing the rear lens. I am happy with the results. The last one I saw sell on e-bay was sold I think for $650 for just one side and it wasn't the side I needed. I bought a piece of 3M lens repair plastic and then started cutting out the repair. Here is the before and after.

Nice work Mike! You will likely have to point that out for it to get noticed.

You have some serious repair skills. Good job!!!

:eek:ccasion14:

Mike how exactly did you make the repair, I have one tail light lens like that.

Nick
Thanks guys, Nick the name of the product is 3M High-strength red lens repair film. It was very easy to work with. Just use scissors to cut out your piece, it has a self adhesive back, which you just simple peel back once you have cut to size. Do NOT buy the 3M lens repair tape. It was a joke wouldn't stick to anything and the color wasn't right, the film was dead on in color with a very strong adheasive. It did my repair in some areas from the inside and outside too to increase the strength.

That is exactly what I was after. If you look from the original picture the damage didn't really scream out at you. I handed the lens to my wife last night and she turned it around in her hands and it took her a moment to find the repair. Her exact words where "how in the world did you do that in an hour". I think it will be very hard to pick out on the car and the fact it is on the bottom part of the lens too.lens detail.jpg

That lens looks great.......so does the paint!!!!:icon_thumleft:

Sweet, lose the AAA sticker
Long gone that was a picture I took the day I brought her home last September. That bumper has been re-chromed and will never see a AAA or any sticker for that matter.

The chrome looks outstanding too!!!

Are you coming to Carlisle???

Thanks for the kind words, Ask Dave about Carlisle........ I won't be coming, too much going on this summer and not enough miles driven to get the bugs out of the 300. I have had my buddy offer to look over the transmission and rebuild it if necessary, but at the very least replace the seals. It is leaking pretty bad and don't have the time to tackle it too.
