RHD Chrysler town and country.

I have a RHD Chrysler Town and Country van for sale. its proven to be very reliable. The motor runs great and transmission is very strong. The conversion to right hand drive was professionally done and works perfect for mail delivery. Make an offer.

By a professional what? Professional hack??

There used to be a RHD Subaru wagon around here that was ordered with RHD just for mail delivery. Most just drove from the passenger seat though... which is always funny to see and I always thought that it was questionable for safety.

The post office here went to mail trucks a few years ago and you don't see the carriers in personal cars any more.

I drove a lot of RHD cars out at the proving grounds. I'm not sure, but I think that's not factory. Then again, it was many years ago and who am I to argue with a professionally done conversion?

Should be pretty safe, the driver gets dual airbags.

I have worked on a few RHD jeeps for mail workers. Some of these I have seen were imported from overseas. Different to drive.

RHD wasn't the issue... that PO stuff was assembled from the cheapest crap they could get a box car load of... the brakes never worked good... the idle would just get cranked by the PO garage to keep the thing running... ugly fustercluck of a piece of machinery.

My first garage job in 85 had a PO account... I had to drive way too many of those jeeps, 1/2 tons and pintos back too them.... the pintos were the closest to being a car and they really sucked at it.

Best fun was the steep hill, lots of traffic and red light that I had to try to get the Fing things to stop for... neutral, two feet, pulling on the wheel for leverage and prayer.

This is a RHD conversion for use by letter carriers. There is a mechanical linkage from the base of the steering column, back over to where the original column entered the floor. The gas and brake are operated in a similar manner. Not a bad set-up for slow-moving mail delivery, but nothing you would drive on a road at 70 mph. Saw one of these conversions several years ago, and it's interesting, I'll give it that.

Pretty dangerous if you ask me, considering the passenger airbag would likely be designed to emerge (at high speed) directly behind the steering wheel.

Good luck in a crash, it's a poor conversion.

No hope whatsoever in getting that past the inspectors over here. One would expect this poor workmanship in Mongolia or Africa...

Gee, the local inspectors would have a fit with this, American inspectors would too I hope. As I see it, the driver is dead in a crash after the steering wheel smashes into their face courtesy of the dashboard airbag.

How much gas we got left?

Could you turn on the lights please?

... and by the way, my comment was a joke. That's obviously not a factory RHD (of which many were built). My assumption would be that both airbags are disconnected, just the additional resistance in the connections would probably trigger a fault.
