Pic 1 and 3 are AMC "volcano caps" the middle one is a 70-74 Chrysler road wheel centre cap and dome assembly.

Makes sense, 1 and 3 are the same and are missing the American Motors Corporation in red around the dome ... Number 2 still looks short to me...

O.K. .... if you say so...... It doesnt look right BUT appreciating your knowledge I'll leave it at that

I don't understand your question.

based on Dave's comment I assume there is more than one type of center and more than one type of insert that goes that goes into/on the center. If this is the case I was wondering what the diff heights are and what the diff centers look like and what year groups look like

Okay,

Road wheels were made by Chrysler Corp from 1970- 1981. In 1975 The centre dome and cap assembly changed. First pic is the 1970-74 centre with the ribbed bolt on cap, the second pic is the 1975-1981 centre with the spring loaded snap on cap.

Thanks Mr C. Are the actual centers all the same and only the caps different?

It was me who bought these caps. I needed one AMC cap and one 70 "C" Body cap to complete sets. They aren't perfect but the price reflects that and they are better than not having a cap.
