Does anyone have the correct routing for the remote mirror cable on the driver's side door. 70 SF is the car in question. I want to make sure it's in there correctly before I put the door panel back on and door back together.

Thanks

Your car should have quarter vents on it yes? The cable will run to the front of the door clear of the window channel and there should be a translucent clip that holds it in place in the forward section of the door.

No, no vent windows on it. Just one big piece of glass that seems to hit the cable.

Alright the cable will still go to the front inside of the door but there will be a clip that pushes through a small hole around the middle. I will have a look at one of my doors tomorrow and see if I can get a picture for you.

This is a 66 Polara but it might be similar, the mirror control goes ahead of the vent window crank.

I guess I should have been more clear. I have my original door panels. I know where the adjuster ends up on the door. I want to know where the cable routes inside the door shell. Thanks.

Here are the pics of the things to look out for, the door pic is of the drivers door front edge. If you look near the center just above the large hole, you will see two little holes, this is where the two clips plug in from the inside holding the cable. The second pic you can see the two clips on the cable. Now not all cars get two clips, depending on the model you may only have one clip and one hole. But the theory is the same.

70Tom, your car is a 1970 Fury two-door hardtop without vent windows, right?

The mirror is the original one from the car? If the mirror is from a car with vent windows (read: from a four-door w/ vent windows) its cables would be shorter because the portion of the vent window made the moving side glass smaller, and so the cables were just as long as they needed to be. Therefore such a (four-door) mirror would not fit.

You need a mirror for two-door HT's w/o vent windows, those cables are the correct length. 1971 ditched vent windows on four-doors, but those mirrors are square, so you can't use them on a 1970 model without raising some connaisseur's eyebrows.

That is correct.

The mirror is original. The cable is the correct length, the window just seems to hit the cable when it is rolled up/down. I just wanted to know if is should pass through or go around any interior bracing or holes to avoid this issue.

That is good to know. Any idea where I can get those clips? I am pretty sure my cable doesn't have one on it.

Interesting. This image from the parts manual shows a guide for it? I'm now confused.

OK, I have to get this mirror routed. Any idea where I can get those clips? There are none on my mirror. In fact, I'm not really sure how it was routed in there. It seems like the cable was just kind of hanging in there. No idea how it didn't hang up on the window.

I don't think I had any plastic clips holding my control in place. Tha gasket listed in the diagram above I think I had, but that was metal on my 66, it could very well be plastic on yours. The collar kept the control tight against the door panel to keep everything secure.

Yeah, unless I am able to find someone who removed one of those from a car, I think I'm stuck with the clips. I just need to find them. I figure some people out there had to restore/remove their mirror and have to reinstall who might have some tips.

I didn't take pictures until I had it apart, yep, that doesn't help, and my other parts car isn't here yet.
