I have had good luck posting here so I thought I would try my luck finding the floor mats. These are shown in the 1966 option brochure and the ones I keep threating to steal are out of Ross's '66.

I'd kill for a set in red.

That would be killer in your car. I have only seen the black and white ones. There were ten colors available, if we are dreaming I will take a set of dark tan.

Seems to me Chrysler was remaking some of the MoPar floor mats a few years ago, but I don't know if they still have them, or exactly what style they were. An NOS set is going to be really hard to find.

I am seriously thinking of making a mold of these floor mats if I can get @Stormer to lone me his set. I think It will cost a small fortune in mold and end product to put it out for sale, but I think they would be really cool.

I think I can save some cost by doing an open pour so the details on the front and smooth on the back. I have found a clear tintable urethane for the actual mat.

I sent an email to find out what best to use for the mold

Well the good news Ross said I can borrow his mats to make molds.

The bad news there is not a perfect product for the DIYer. The best product was the one I was thinking of. The bad it will degass at 140F, does not have UV protection against color loss, anf also is not resistant to oils and gas. It doesn't however discourage me from looking into it further. I am willing to be the guinea pig and put them to the test.

If they fail prematurely I will always have the molds to make another set, and then they would be saved for special occasions or car shows.

There were 10 colors available, has anyone seen a set other than black and white. Even better does anyone have a catalog that actually depicts the different color mats?

Thanks Big John that's where I got my information that's that there were 10 different mats out there too, I'm curious if there was an actual color brochure showing each one.

I guess it's safe to presume that whatever interior you had the mats would match.
I misunderstood.

I would try to match carpet samples.

Mike, I doubt that a catalog will have an accurate depiction of the colors, kind of like the colors in the dealer brochures.
And what's the difference between "dark tan" and "brown"?

A little more research and I think I have a plan. The Smooth-on guy provided me with alot of information and was perticulary focused on giving me a heads up on any potential problem which may occur.

The product I use with the lens is not recommend for the mats, it will not cure against the rubber. I must use what they call a tin cure mold product. This requires an additional heat cure for 4 hours at 150F.

I believe I have come up with a plan to use my turkey roaster as my controlled heat source and then building a box around it to accommodate the large mat.

More later, but my plan is set, for now I need to pop out some lens. :)

I no body makes he 66 they are completely different.
