It wasn't a C-Body but just as sad.

I went to the local metal recycling centre yesterday to drop off some scrap iron and happpened to look at the scrap cars people had dropped off.

Right on the end was a 1964 Thunderbird!

I asked about it and the manager had bought the car with the strict instructions to make sure it was crushed by the end of the day!

I asked to go at it and had a look see. Puzzled the heck out of me as to why someone would do this in this day of classic cars being so popular now in these parts.

I would have given it a 4/10 for restorability.

I suspect that the PO had sometype of extreme negative emotions tied to this car. Either themselves lost love of some type or could have been a deceased relative...

They had smashed all the gauges and what looked like kicked in the dash.
The seats were there and they had smashed the rear window after dropping the car off.
There was a short block under the hood with all accessories including A/C
All the chrome trim was thrown into the car as well.
Otherwise the car was solid..

A sad sight indeed :(

Could have been a car stolen for the scrap value. A neighbor of mine had two of his project cars (62 Grand Prix, and 71 LeMans 4 speed wagon) stolen from a fenced outdoor public storage yard. Both cars were projects and were not running vehicles. The wagon had been crushed by the time the thief had been caught, but someone at the scrap yard had set the GP aside thinking it was too nice to be crushed. There was some damage on the Grand Prix from the fork lift, but at least he got it back. Sadly the rare 4 speed wagon was toast.
