The springs were "rebuilt" by a local shop for the previous owner and they managed to mess up the shackles. There are bolts with the heads welded to one half the shackle. The bolts are too long and the nut really hasn't drawn the other side of the shackle up correctly and the side that should be straight (or at least I think it should be straight) has a slight "S" shape to it.

I could probably fix the ones I have if need be. I'd straighten the one side and whittle up some replacement studs, but replacing them just seems easier.

I'm going to replace the leaf springs. They added another leaf when they rebuilt the springs. It rides a little stiff and has a little too much arch for my taste.

@Big John, as I have also discovered, there is some industry-wide problem with regards to recognition of the 70 Chrysler 300. On several occasions I have had issues trying to get the correct part. The part is either unavailable or you get the incorrect part. This goes right to the manufacturers themselves...eg even Raybestos lists the wrong master cylinder for the 70 300 (the one you'll end up with is the 71-71 item, which is not compatible). Solution? instead of specifying the 300, specify the New Yorker and you won't have a problem. I have raied this on a number of occasions with Rock Auto, Raybestos, and others, yet this perculiar problem persists.
