Folks,

I am looking for some guidance. We are converting a 66 Fury III from a three on the tree to a floor shifter. I have installed the hump based on advice from this forum. I contacted Summit and they sent me a "universal" Hurst Indy shifter that was allegedly a straight bolt on. Guess what, not even close! The brackets do not line up to anything and would need to be radically modified. Of course I'll contact Summit tomorrow (Monday) and see if anyone there knows what they sent me.

I'm fairly certain Chrysler never made a three speed big block floor shifter? I need some thoughts on options like can a four speed shifter be modified or is there something out there that may work?

Thanks, Bradley

You probably need the aluminum plate that goes between shifter and trans I think its the same as a 4 speed, it bolts to trans shifter bolts to it if summit doesn't sell it I know Brewers does and Passion and I think Mancini. Don't be surprised when summit doesn't know what your talking about if its not a a,b,e

That A903 has no provision for mounting a floor shifter. It is a coulmn shift box only. Best thing to do would be to see if you can find an A230 or A250 set up complete with shifter and linkage and swap it over. They are getting hard to find but I see them up for sale on craigslist once and a while.

I'd go with this:

It's cheap enough.

Incidently, you want the A230 tranny because it's all synchro unlike the earlier boxes.

Caveat: I have no clue if this will bolt up to a BB bell housing.
So, how's that 4 speed conversion looking now?.......
