have 2 days to decide wether or not to add a 6 pack l have to my 71 Fury GT build
cars numbers matching with all parts present..have a 6bbl ld like to add but not shure if its the smart thing to do with a car like this..of course all parts removed would be saved for future cartaker..car will remain oem
car..71 sport fury Gt loaded..u-code 440 supercomando

Thanx...

why not? if you don't like it, go back to original.

Why just 2 days??

If you really want to why not if it was available as an option back in the day. Don't know how tricky the 6bbl set up is tune though.

Do it yeah, piss off the number code matching purists :p

Make sure you make it look like a 71 B-body 440/6bbl motor...down to every detail preferably. That would look really cool under that big hood of yours. Also the 71 GT graphics are one of my favorite!

Now if you put a 70 Fury hood on the car, with 440-6 call outs on the hood humps, and then have the 71 GT hood graphics moved over slightly to straddle the hood buldges...That would look sweet IMO. ;)

Maybe like this one...

Or have a second set of graphics made up for the original hood....440 on the RH side, and then 6bbl on the LH side.

have put alota thought into it and have all the parts short of the breather..even have the right exaust manifold for drivers side without heat riser...breather lid would do it up similar to the super comp pie plate with same colors .super comando around edges with 440 on top and crossed flags with the 70 6bbl type decal under neath flags...would have this all done up by a professional artist..decals easy enough to make but they tend to peal with heat thus would have it painted...on that note folks "thier is" a P/N or actully 3 P/Ns for 71 GT that include the 6bbl designation on the GT grapics..one gold..one white..one black and these can be found in the parts catalogue..so in reality if l wanted to add a 6bbl could do so in good consience as mopar had already put all the work into a 71 6bbl GT they were gona bring out...rumour has it in a recent mag that 2 made it out..yet to see any pics ...may have been a dealer add on at purchace
in all honesty the 70 fury hood is the cats meow and like it far better than the plain 71 hood and have thought of it many times along with the graphics and could work it in nicely if l went that route...belive the car in itself will stand out without hood allthough your right it would look better but then lm changeing major parts which would leave me with 1 of none type car....any other car it wouldnt even be a discussion but belive this cars somewhat speacial in itself so any distraction from the oem would just lessen it...willing to change a few little things re electronic ignition ect to make it more reliable...but it would look bitchin with 70 hood 71 graphics and a 71 mopar hood tach which l bought for this exact reason...at that pont your better off just buying a 70..doing it up and calling it a resto mod..shurley do love that 70 hood though...also have a 70 fury l picked up before the 71...was gona mod the crap outa it but when l first saw it couldnt touch it either as it was near mint condition with no rips tears or cracks in interior and a exterior almost as good...not haveing much luck here...2 furys and cant realy touch either...geez

Glad you posted up the 71 winchester GT pics...now this realy bugs the crap outa me..if you look closely at the GT the spaceing of the lines in the decal are out to lunch and look like a 8 year old did it..any closer and they,d be trippin over each other...thought mayby this was way they were susposed to look then did a little reasearch on all the GT pics lve gathered and this is the only one with graphics that look like this..l gather he had the graphics redone by someone else and when he got car back didnt notice the diffrence or just decided to live with it re the 6-700$ cost to replace...beautifull car but when l see those graphics just wonder if car was restored or serviced by same place and wondering what else l might find outa place or wrong....

bottom line...70 has the nicest hood and grill combination although lm learnin to cherish the 71 :eek:s_dancing2:
ps...gona be in touch with mopar historical re my car but am also gona see if they have any pics of the GT decal with the 6bbl designation...if they got as far as includeing a part number in the cataloge is gona be a pic somewhere..the hunt is on

Hell yeah! Go for it, it's your car. I'm getting at least one 6pac setup on my cars. I've got the edelbrock STR-14 intake with both 4 & 6 barrel tops. Can't wait to build an engine for that 6pac top!

You could still do the 70 hood, with the 71 graphics...and the killer 71 hood tach (Never thought of the hood tach....SWEET IDEA!!) Just have the plane 71 hood done at the same time and graphic installed. Then you could easily swap it out if you wanted to return the car to it's original condition. Less work then swapping the 6bbl back to a 4bbl...IMO. ;)

lmao...was thinkin of that to..to funny...car can pull off the hood tach nicely..have given it alota thought to point l hunted down a mint 71 hood tach complete with mopar logo..as much as l like the 70 hood would be kinda gettin outa line with the cars pedegree,,,any other car and it wouldnt even be a question...the fact that its a Gt is both a blessing and a curse..parts near impossible to find and you cant realy change much or you just have another resto mod..nothin against them..this just aint the car...hrs to go before shippin and still undecided...think l just throw it all in the wash and see what pops out come spring....would kill for a dash tach.....

Ain't that the truth! I had to buy rear quarter glass for my 70 Sport fury many years ago. One shattered while sitting in my driveway. Anyway the only place I could find a set was 3 hours drive from my place. The guy was a C-body guy and he was showing me through his parts stash. He had two NOS Fury Tachs....and one near mint used one. Wish I had purchased one of them back then.
