Hi All, Would anyone be able to shed some light if 66-68 Polara's come out with slant 6? If so, were the K-Frame's the same for the Slant 6 Polara to the small block and big block Polara's?

Question is, my Polara was a factory big block car and I've got a running slant 6 and 904 auto that I want to throw in it for something different. What's the easiest solution?

Nothing is ever easy, exhaust is different, as is the transmission, you might make the radiator work, will probably need a different driveshaft...

Hi Alan, Thanks for the reply. Yeah, it's true isn't it. I'm more concerned and the best way to tackle engine mounts. The rest is OK and I can sort out. I've got complete driveline and I know I will have to modify driveshaft.

C bodies don't have K frames...they have stub frames. Therefore, the odds of someone swapping stub frames for the slant 6 swap is very low. I'll bet you still have the stub frame for the B/ RB block and that the swap back will be relatively easy.

For the limited experience I have, I think that the BB will bolt in without any frame swaps required.
The 65's were a different story though as they had the engine mount brackets welded near the left front of the stub frame while the 66 Stubs had the mount right by the sterring box which made it more universal.

the transmission will be different if going BB (Different Bell housing) along with the D shaft but linkage & rear steel trans mount should be usable.

I have both year of stub frames here & will take some shots to post for you later today.

One last thing is that you may have to change the Torsion bars to comp for the heavier engine

I think the big issue would be the trans mount. The 904 is shorter.

I also think the 904 is going to be the weak point in the combination.

Did the factory use a 904 or a 727 behind the slant in a C-body??

I'm pretty sure all the slant 6's used the 904 if memory serves me correctly. But I've been known to be wrong.

I've seen slant six vehicles with 727 trans. Chrysler even made an adapter at one time to bolt a small block bolt pattern 727 to the 727 for truck use. I've only seen one of those.

Just to clarify guys, my Polara is a factory 383 car and drivetrain is long gone. I'm going to ratrod the vehicle and have a running slant 6/904 auto here that I want to put it in and not the other way around. It's going to be a real tight budget exercise and unfortunately running big blocks/727's here fetch decent dollars so I want to do something different and throw the slanter into the Polara. So my questions is on how difficult would it be to get the slant 6 in there? Is it straight forward to make up brackets for the slant mounts to bolt onto the big blocks brackets?

That all depends on your fab skills, getting the height and left/right position will be the trick.
Keep in mind that the engine is not centered in the car.
To me the key is the output of the transmission, it needs to be on the same center.
There was a different crossmember for the 6 as well as the frame.
That being said it can be done, you may need to adapt the transmission mount as well.
I do not think there will be any interferences just mount adapters.
You might be able to take measurements but it might be easier to just drop it in with some blocks and jack stands.

You are not likely to find someone that has done this but poses the same challenges as any engine swap.
