some good action in the local CL this weekend

"1977 Plymouth Fury Hazzard County Police Car. 318 V8 2 bbl car."

No wonder they never caught those Duke boys.

This is why this was the ultimate era. EVER!!

Damn, the wagon ad is gone! That's why we need to include a good pic from the ad when we post these. Looks very kool from the back!

No,..nope, just realizing (after 6 days of reflection of course) how ridiculous and silly it is to argue the merits of a car with pointy wings sticking out its *** end. It's akin to arguing the world is not round.

I like them with fins, rolling sculpture is what those cars are!

I like pretty much all of them :) the more detail and character the better as far as I'm concerned, especially the fins, the chrome, the lines etc. You could tell what they were .. beats the crap out of most of the stuff today and for quite a long long long time

Everyone is of course titled to their own opinion, I don't begrudge anyone of that nor individually hold it against them, I just that I refuse to call a pile of crap a dozen roses, either. Exner was a stylist, a man of the times of course, however there is no truth in his designs...er, styles trying to pass as design, and THAT's what irks me the most. Probably what got him **** canned too.

His vision of design didn't get him fired. It was top management, muddling, egos, mismanagement, and most of all, politics. He was the fall guy along with some unfortunate bad timing, health wise.

They said it when this design came out, we were'nt there to hear it. I'd say it's pretty well established the 61 and up modelyears from Plymouth/Dodge failed with buyers, partly because of the rust issues that occured with the 57-60 cars and tarnished Mopar reputation, partly exner was not in command for a cruicial time while recuperating from his rather severe heart attack when the 61s were designed plus the downsizing of the 62s while design was already established on a longer wheelbase.
They grew on me in recent years but there are some cars I'd look for before buying one of these models.

easy to spread the blame around...one day someone there with a design background finally got sober and realized how far off the rails things went. Enter Engle.....first thing he did was rework Exner's office.

It would be interesting to take a poll of who does or does not like the Exner era designs on Mopars.

I'd start one but don't know how........?
