any other locations for drain holes, i know about the doors the fresh air vents under the wiper motor(?) anywhere else i'm missing?

and how is the air control temp operated with cable or vacuum, from under the dash? and where is that located at, i do have a service manuel but haven't really studied the hvac part of the book yet

The actual temperature adjust (hot->cold) is done with a cable. The cable is very similar to the ones that operate the floor vents.

This is absolutely correct. The cable is run across the top of the heater box and secured to the top of it. As far as controlling the doors on the heater box that is done with vacuum. If you take the switch out of your car be very careful disconnecting the vacuum lines the back of the switch can be broken very easily.

i've replaced the vacuum switch once before when i had my 71 FURY III

i don't have any vacuum canister on my car, it goes from vacuum port from intake manifold to the hvac control

ok, I have a small can with the parts with 2 mounting tabs 180 degrees from each other, it has 2 small vac fittings on the top same size as the heater controls, ??

Automatic Temperature Control.

Thanks, was this common on a Newport convertible?

Common? Probably not on a convertible - as, well, it’s a convertible. Possible? You betcha.
The fender tag doesn’t denote if it’s was purchased with ATC but you can either reference your build sheet, check if there are ATC components, cut off switches, ETR valves etc. Also - on your dashboard - it should say “AutoTemp” above the AC controls.

I´m a ``no-know`` guy about pre-Fusie A/Cs, so when was the first year for the ATC?
