Someone school me on 1973 C-body spindles

What is so good about them? There is a 1973 Newport at my local U Pull It type wrecking yard, so I pulled the spindles off because I remember reading some threads here and on the Dry Dock that they were ones to have. And at the ridiculously low price of $32/pair I figured I could not go wrong. But I have yet to fully understand what about the '73 only model makes them better?

I have a 1971 Chrysler 300 2dr I'm going to start working on later this month (one reason why the Newport piqued my interest)....it is a factory disc brake car naturally. What would be gained by swapping the '73 spindles on it? Should I have grabbed the rotor or calipers as well? They were just single piston calipers so I just left them under the car. Ditto on the rotors....as I figure they are probably not that expensive new and who knows if these even have enough metal on them to be turned and cleaned up? (Didn't have a mic on me......). Car showed 79k on the odo.

The 1973 setup has a larger hub and bearing, but I doubt that advantage is worth changing over your disc brake system on your 1971 300, as they are almost the same setup. The rotors of course are not interchangeable, but I would think the calipers are the same between the two setups. But maybe there is something more special about the 1973 system than I am aware of, such as perhaps easier to acquire rotors maybe? But I think even the rotors on your 1971 are readily available these days, although they would not be the two piece original style, but rather the one piece setup.

I would really like to see some photos of your 1971 300. They are easily one of my favorite mopars ever, along with the 1970 models.
 
The 73 vintage setup used a one piece rotor assy while the pre 73 ones used a two piece rotor. The two piece rotors got to be really high priced due to unavailability which made the 73 units the desired one. So yes, you should have grabbed the rest of the setup if still usable, rotors have enough meat to turn them down and so on. The difference in spindle sizes made interchange of rotors and such a no-no.

That being said, there are supposedly now some cheaper replacement rotors available for the earlier units - although I believe they're not of an extremely high quality.
