Currently have msd 5531 straight boots due to headers on my 383. I have the pertronix ignitor with the stock distributor cap. What are some decent wires and can I put a hei cap on the distributor being I have the ignitor conversion kit. Jegs has some nice sets but alot are for hei capsm My cap has the female ends and the plugs male.

Either MSD wires or Taylor's. I've used both but find Taylors have better ends and withstand heat a bit better. Also Taylor's come in neat colors like Hemi orange etc. They are pricey but the set I currently have are four years old and counting. Whatever you use, for proper routing, it is best to apply the distributor ends yourself so they end up exactly the length you want. I bought a set with 90 degree boots at the plugs but ended up buying four individual wires with 135 degree ends to keep clear of my headers. Taylor's sell the best stand-off's for wire routing bar none in my opinion especially when using Mopar Performance valve covers.

I bought wires from www.lectriclimited.com and they are the correct OEM wires, you can even get date coded ones if you prefer which I did. They're about $75.00 but they fit my 63 New Yorker perfectly, I had a hard time finding the correct wires for the car. Since you have headers I'm not sure if they'll work. I would stick with the stock cap because the Pertronix works fine with it, but that's just my opinion.

Yep, those are nice wires.

Ok I am leaning towards the taylor but they don't sell straight boots and those work the best, I wish jegs sold non hei wires in there brand or someone else besides the msd 5531. I am not good at making the universal ones so I avoid those.

Pertronix sells nice performance wires, low resistance, and black. They are spiral-wrapped stainless around a carbon core. I believe they have both pre-fit and bulk sets you can crimp yourself. 7mm and 8mm. Boot options.

I plan on getting a set for my NY'er.

I got an S+K multi wire tool that had an ignition crimper for my last wire project; nothin' fancy but well made and did the job right.
