I just bought a new carb and she fires up instantly without pumping at all, with the old carb, it was pump, pump, and floor it while i turned the key. Does anybody have a routine that they know works with there car? Different routine with warm and cold engine?

Eddy 600cfm, runs like a champ out of the box. Just had to adjust the fast idle, it was at 1500 rpm, and I wanted it down to 1100.

One pump to the floor when cold, nothing when warm (or sometimes an eighth inch of throttle while i'm starting it).

I have Eddy 1406's on both of my Formal's......starts with just a turn of the key.

Cold engine, pump twice, turn key. Warm engine, no pump.

These procedures only work if you fire the car up every 2-3 days, otherwise the gas evaporates outta the bowl then it's crank city till it fires. I wish people had the brains that God gave a grasshoppers ***.

You are correct, but did the op specify how many days it had been since the car had been started? No.
Also, what type of grasshoppers do you have where you live?!?!? :confused1:

Agreed. Mine get out at most at one week intervals. I'll pump 6X crank a couple times repeat and it fires. Same procedure for both cars after sitting. If warm they fire right up no cranking.

What he said. Only half the time mine start on the first go round.

pump a couple a times. crank it, if it fires up great if not try again. stays running after the second try after sitting for a few days or a couple of weeks. when warm it's about a pump and a half and starts right up...

When cold I pump once to set the choke and when warm no pump. Edelbrock 1406 right out of the box.

I start the car maybe once a week, just tap the gas to set the choke and starts with the first spin. Holley 670cm avenger carb.
