Do you have a recommended vendor for rebuilt or NOS A/C compressor or evaporator for a 77 New Yorker Brougham w/ a 440? Mine leaks.

The compressor needs to look original. I see lots of negative comments online about the Murray, Four Seasons & Driveworks rebuilt compressors sold at the auto parts stores. My Murray rebuilt compressor from O'Reilly is leaking after 1.5 years. It "could" be replaced if I drive to the nearest O'Reilly store 200 miles away, but I'd like one that lasts more than 2 years.

For my car the stock compressor part# is: 3846 631
evaporator# is: 3503 061

Let me guess. It is leaking right at the suction a/o discharge port.
All you need is a couple of dollars worth of the metal crush gaskets and 20 minutes.
Somebody either reused the one time use only gaskets or substituted a fiiber one.

I think it's just leaking at the base. The A/C shop owner lives across the street. They're pretty well respected as a good auto A/C shop. I'll have to ask why he didn't recommend a new gasket.
