The story goes that he was in Phoenix and saw the sign for the Carefree Highway and got the idea for the song.
One of his friends Jim Cutty, on the radio this morning said he owned a big old New Yorker.
What? I had not heard any news of Randy's death. Gotta look that up.
I looked. It was his brother Tim. Whew...
