I recently asked Bulldog Dave to send me a thumbwheel panel dimmer switch from the car he is parting out.

In the meantime, I started poking around the internet on these things

Here's the difference between "us" and "them".

You forgot the associated text for each photo:
Photo #1
"It'll drive up to 3 A. I've got it software configured to limit it to about 3 A right now: (1) for output short-circuit detection/protection, and (2) because it keeps thermal management issues inside the dimmer module to a minimum. Successful power-up and programming of unit serial #1 (the gray ribbon cable is for in-system programming of the microcontroller; the five wires on the green connector are what you'll be using in your car)."

Photo #2
"Umm.... I know I brought out this razor blade for some reason. Aw, forget it. Where's my cognac?"

The razor blade comes into play after the Porsche guy finishes his drink.

I know. His blade is in the living room for later use. :)
