Been driving the Polara lately (67 with 383) & it runs nice & cool but when I stop & shut her down it sprays water everywhere. It actually blows water out with enough force to blow the overflow hose completely off.

Thoughts?

For starters I would change the thermostat (180 degree) and I changed the thermostat housing neck. The OE one always #$%^&^ leak on me. This is a good one from 440 Source.

It could be a number of other things too. Does the bottom hose have a spring in it? If not, it could be collapsing. The clutch fan could be the problem. Even if it spins that doesn't necessarily mean it is working correctly. Sounds like the water pump is working. And lastly.......the radiator. I would make sure the other items are working first.

Remove tha radiator cap, with cold engine, an look for bubbels in the radiator.

Send me every OEM neck you have then. I'll take every one of them. Clean them up and they're better than any aftermartket crap.

Pity. You could have put it on ebay and include the word Hemi and got a $150.00 for it....

Wow! I forgot about the vintage Hemi parts scam....

It's been my experience that any thermostate that didn't come from Mother Mopar never lasts more then 6 months reguardless of who's selling it! And don't ask me why, Mother has been having them made in Mexico for her for years. Just my experience with everything from /6s thru' 440s and up to and including 3.0Ls 3.3Ls 3.8Ls. Not sure about the 5.7Ls and the 6.1Ls but I suspect the same, Jer

I found a Stant thermostat in my NYB, nothing wrong with it....the damn neck was leaking. I've used Stant thermostat's for over 40 years and never had a problem with them. Just my .02

Thanks guys. I'll throw a tstat in her when I get home & we'll see. I'll also check to make sure the bottom hose isn't collapsing. Definitely no bubbles though.

No bubbles is good = no compression goes in the cooling system.
