Thoughts on the TCI 727 Streetfighter transmission

We put a turbo 400 in a customers GTO, seemed like a good unit and he is happy with it. I have used other products of theirs and have had good results

There's a racing tranny expert here but I can't think of his name right now.
I remember him being very vocal about tci.
Hope he catches this thread.

Rebuild a good core you might have $100 bucks in parts $120 with primo clutches which are way overkill for anything under 450hp. Throw in a $70 Trans Go shift kit and you trans that will work just as well. If your planning on serious abuse buy a bolt in sprag for $70.

If you have a look on TCI's site, its very carefully worded and full of sales jargon, but its just a std rebuilt trans, especially compared to what they try to sell to you as the next level up

My buddy was asking $500 for his, used it for one summer then went big block, I was curious as Dennis needs a tranny rebuild badly, I figured if they were decent, buy the TCI put it in the convertible and use the rebuilt out of the convertible in the 4 door, as it is, I guess I'll just rebuild this tranny and do some upgrades to it, then keep it as a spare when I swap out the 318/727 for the 440/727

Well for that price I could follow your logic. How is the trans in the 73 acting up, if it is just shifting poorly it can be adjusted if the clutches are slipping they don't last long like not making it home long.
