timing chain advice.

The 318 I have was a complete rebuilt with all new parts less than 10,000 miles ago, it,s a 1975 motor so it,s painted blue...I am in the process of a reseal just to clean and re-paint factory red....my question is...should I change out timing chain and gears for a double roller set or not bother. The car is a cruiser not intended to be stomped on. It,s a 68 fury rag not a hot rod.

I have always replaced the single roller with the double and even advanced a couple of them the 4 degrees with good results. I would go the extra on the 75 318 for the piece of mind. I assume you are using the electronic ignition on this distributor in the 68?

With the low miles and the one that is in there is not a nylon coated aluminum original I would leave it.

I wouldn't bother. Spend the money somewhere else.

thanks for the advice,yes it,s up-graded to elec. ign. Has been on engine stand for 10+years so that's why the re-seal
