I know they say that a woman can never make up her mind....but I have. After working all day on the other love of my life, I've decided on tires. For those of you rolling your eyes...STOP. LOL I'm going to keep the 14 inch rims. (Despite other recommendations) I'm going to look for 1 inch whitewall 245/60-14's. Anyone that thinks there is something better out there, please let me know. I'm reasonable. But the 14's are staying...so are the drum brakes. That felt refreshing.

That's a weird size. How did you decide upon that particular size?

I have a 68 Plymouth Fury with the factory 14" steel wheels. I run the 225/70/14 They are a common size and fairly easy to find. I have used the Bf Goodrich Radial Ta, and now I'am using the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires.

Thanks. Since I'm using the original 14 inch rims, it's been hard to figure out what to do with the tires. I just found this article that I found very interesting. I didn't want to spend so much money on tires, but it looks like I might be leaning towards the coker whitewall replacement. BTW...I love Boerne

On my 65 Newport, I have P205/75R14 on Centerline 14x6 wheels. I recall that was the size on the factory 14" steel wheels when I bought it and never gave it much thought. The same tires are on my 96 Plymouth Voyager (3500 lb vs 4000 lb Newport), and seem real easy to get. I put the white-walls inward for the all-black cop-car look that became popular in the 70's after the car-chase movies. Someday I might go wild and put on all-white "pimp walls" and wear a floppy purple hat.
