A club member had his annual May picnic out in Dixon which is about 12 miles short of Sacramento if I head east from Concord. I have never gone to one but thought I would this time. Usually members brings their Cougars but I decided to take my F-100 out for the 100 mile round trip. Plus no one has ever seen it.

My wife was working so that made it easier since the truck holds only two and so my son rode shotgun. So what is it like having a nine year old on a 50 mile drive and he forgot to charge his little game boxes or whatever they are. Oh, and the radio is AM only. He was bored out of his mind fortunately on the way home he feel asleep in the first 10 minutes. To think my father drove us kids, three in the back seat of a 1964 Galaxie, cross country from Baltimore to Los Angeles in 1966 with just some books. In between my feet were my fish in a styrofoam cooler as I didn't want to dump them. Those few goldfish lived for 7 years spending the last 4 years in a large fish pond I designed.

This was a small gathering as next month will be the West Coast Nationals at a club members 4.5 acre property in Brentwood. At least 85 Cougars there from up and down the West Coast. You all know what a Cougar is and I was more interested in what else would be there.

Last group and yes there were two Chevy's as the host has his local friends and three brothers. I can't believe that I didn't get a picture of the 42,000 mile Thunderbird which belonged to one of the host's father. I will say parking in a barn for 10 years covered might work IF there are no pigeons. There were, and the poop was thick, combined with moisture and you get acid. Poor vinyl roof and some of the paint eaten away down to the primer. However, gorgeous T-bird interior in blue. Last shot I looked over at the next door neighbor and saw another truck. This is one of those middle class areas of working families where you get to see lots of older original cars.

Unfortunately while any car could have come by no Mopars did. However, while there I did see this beautifully restored Edsel drive down the street.

Cool to see the blue oval guys enjoying their rides. The only guy I know with a cougar of hay vintage runs his at the track, all steel, can't remember if he has dipped into the 9's or not.
