Tommy Smothers dead-on imitation of Johnny Carson - Feb 20, 1992

That’s could be referred to as having some sh!ts & giggles. Wow it brought a tear to my eye.
Gracious for the laugh.

I always loved Tommy, more so than his brother. He played the dummy so well.

Nice impersonation, just the right amount of exaggeration.

As Norm says, you have to like a person to do a good/funny impersonation, or it just looks mean and unfunny. Also, says the right amount of exaggeration is what makes it funny.

I agree. Love Norm.

I have also. They naturally look alike which helps in the bit.

The old Carson stuff is terrific.

I really loved it when I got to stay up late mid 70s and watch all the greats come on and stay as other guests come on and rib each other. Seemed like they were all having so much fun. Rickles, Martin, Winters, Davis, Diller, Brunette, etc and of course Hope.

Johnny was the best! General Electric f'd up when they shut him down in 1992. Should have let him go as long as he wanted to go. I protested in the only way I could, and shut down late night television watching in my home. Sorry Jay.

To me Jay was unwatchable. One punchline after another at the cost of what made Johnny great. Letting guests talk.
