I'm picking up an old thread here, it was brought up that Mopar offered a torque strap on certain applications, it is a metal cable with two eyelets and a bushing on one end and a spacer on the other, MrMopar CHP has this on his 1969 C.H.P. Polara. I was looking at a 1973 C.H.P. Polara and it has two metal brackets on the left side that clip together. So when did Mopar change the design and is this C.H.P. only? 1973 CHP Polara engine restraint 015.jpg1973 CHP Polara engine restraint 002.jpg1973 CHP Polara engine restraint 008.jpg

i have had two 69 furies with 318s. they both had the cable type straps, so i don't think that they were anything special. haven't seen the other type before.

I spoke with a friend that has a 1972 C.H.P. car, his car also has the two piece bracket. I'm hoping to get part numbers soon.

I would be interested in the numbers.
The 69 parts book lists the cable as ,(Cable, engine roll w/auto trans, P,D,C,Y). Used on 383 & 440. Part number 2951590

Also lists a spacer for use with 318 engine. part number 2951593

I found no listing for the straps as shown but the police-taxi section notes: ...... for parts not listed refer to 1969 E series parts catalog. I'm not familure with that catalog.

The "E" Series catalog is the 1969 Parts book. They may have published the Police/Taxi section separately.

Thanks Alan, Thats what I thought too. The Police/Taxi section is a seperate tabbed section in the parts book. The cables are listed in group 9 but nothing about the brackets there.

I'll do some asking around, I think it is a later thing.
I know someone with a 1973 Coronet CHP car, yes a Coronet it was one of two built for the CHP.
The car is pretty much original.
I also know of a 74 CHP car, both of which I may see this weekend.

I'm pretty excited, talked to the owner of the 73 C.H.P. car, he says he has a manual from Chrysler to the C.H.P. listing all the special parts that went into a C.H.P. spec. car. He'll make me a copy sometime this week.

I went through some parts books, found the numbers in the 69 edition but not the later (70-73) books. Also no mention of the two piece bracket.
