What I have done in the fairly recent past for my 1969 Chrysler 300 and & 1970 Chrysler Newport Custom 727 Torqueflites is to get a used valve body for a 1971 and later 727 from an automatic transmission rebuilder supply house (this will not necessarily work for earlier torqueflites with the cable shifters of course so check interchangeability with the supply house on your application if you have other than the model years I have done this with). Valve bodies really do not wear out and they usually have the 71 & up PTK ones available for pretty cheap prices. In the past, I have paid around $50 for one. You might want to familiarize yourself with the difference in appearance of the PTK valve bodies compared to the 70 and earlier ones to ensue you are getting the correct one - the PTK ones have and added housing with spool valves in it that do not exist on the non- PTK one. You might try searching for these suppliers locally and get in touch with them. They usually do high volume business with transmission shops and so their prices are pretty cheap and I haven't had to be a business to buy from them. These later valve bodies make a very positive difference in the responsiveness of the transmission and really enhance overall performance. Good luck.
