I'm stumped on this one. I completely disassembled, cleaned, polished, and re-assembled the turn signal switch. The best I can tell, the turn signal lever isn't generating enough "throw" at the cable end to fully actuate the switch, because if I manually move the switch left/neutral/right it works just fine. I'm a little puzzled by the spring on the switch, but don't see how it would keep the turn signals from functioning. I can adjust it so I get left/off or right/off, but can't figure out how to get it to work properly. The car has the tilt column, has anyone else dealt with this before?

That did help! So it would appear that the cable housing has detached inside the column at the end of the stalk, and actuating the turn signal shoves both the cable AND housing together. That is consistent with what I'm seeing. I guess I either disassemble the column or pick a tilt angle I like and zip-tie the cable housing to the column and hope that keeps it from moving enough so the signal works.
