Has anyone ever done a Dodge V-10 swap into a C-body? Either a Viper motor or maybe a truck motor swap? I've got a '66 Newport, wondering about room,an Imperial with a longer stubframe would be ideal. There are lots of C's minus drive trains out there, just thinking of options. I'm thinking 2wd truck drivetrain swap.Just an idea,opinions,experience...

If you do decide to go this route, go with a Viper motor. The truck V10's are an animal all to themselves, very few, if any interchangeable parts with the viper V10....and there is little to no aftermarket support for them.

Going with a 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi would be more cost effective and easier IMO. Check out Stormer's Monaco build. ;)

Or check out this recent thread...

My biggest thing is always the wheels.... "huge" modern wheels just dont belong on a 60s car, looks ugly... so thats what i would change but other than that id own that

Beautifully done but not my taste. And doing a 4 door is puzzling when you make the back seat completely unusable by adding a roll bar.

I think the intended market would be those of us that like sport touring sedans. I'd much rather have that than some BMW or audi of the same price range.

I like the Imperial linked!Still a full framed car in that era, nice to be able to build from the top I'd say.If I were to do it,I would use a truck motor,at this point anyway.I see the truck v-10 engines for under 1K all the time. I thought of this C-swap while looking at engines/donor trucks for my '69 L-600 Dodge cab over to replace it's 318.One thing I found is the truck V-10 shares a unique bellhousing pattern with the Cummins Dodge trucks. They use a HD trans and this is a different pattern from the Viper motor, and different from the small block pattern too!I was trying to find an adapter from the truck V10 bell to the small block pattern for my cab over as the bell in it has the rear motor mounts built into it. Thanks for the replies.RT

Car and Driver just declared the Hellcat Charger the baddest sedan of all time. The new CTSV is also a monster.

Remember that many of the 360 Magnum engine parts swap to the cast-iron V-10, as that engine is also a member of the "LA" group. That's the good news. As stated, the trans pattern is so the same trans is used behind the Cummins also, in trucks, so finding a compatible trans to fit behind the V-10 in a car will be a monumental task.

The LAST thing I'd put on this car is a set of stock 15" rollers - that would be out of character for a car that has been built like this Imperial has. The wheels the builder used are perfect for this car. And pretty nice-looking, I might add!

can't say I agree with that. 17x7 front, 17x8 back. They replaced the 14" wheels road wheels the car had. I have the same size for my 65 Sport Fury (when ever it gets done).

That Imperial has some excellent fabrication but falls short in overall execution of style, in my opinion. There is a hap hazard approach to the "theme" will it have chrome trim or be a monochrome theme? handles powder coated but side stainless in place, chrome front bumper, but powder coated rear bumper. It just seems "conflicted" stylistically- like they couldn't decide on the theme.

I agree that this kind of custom calls for the big rims, but something about the rims used doesn't seem "right".
