Back when the V-10 Dodge Rams were still "used trucks", I thought (one of my many "mind projects" back then) that as it was allegedly off of the LA architecture, it MIGHT be pretty easy to bolt one into my 1980 Newport 360 2bbl car. The extra length might be compensated for with an electric fan, I suspected. BUT . . . that's as far as it got!
Last year, on the YouTube channel "I DO CARS", Eric tore down a used Viper V-10 core to see what caused it to fail. It was quite a bit different, internally, than I suspected. I would recommend watching that video for ANYBODY considering a V-10 swap! More changes in there than I suspected to make it "Viper worthy" (acceleration and road racing-capable/competitive)! What ever remaining dream cobwebs of having a V-10 R-car were completely obliterated (for real!).
NO matter the other things like a compatible fuel system and drivetrain issues!
As NEAT as that "Pumpkin Formal" Chrysler might be, something tells me I don't want to know the details of how the V-10 got to be where is now is. Just my gut suspicion . . . no more, no less. I am just glad it is where it is.
Enjoy!
