It looks great for about two months.......

You can't fill in chips and cracks and not show it eventually. It's against the law of physics.
It has to be taken down to the steel backbone and remoulded.
or NOS....

I don't see the problem when the filler is a little bit elastic. I am new in this business and not as learned as you guys, but I would give it a try.

Well, I hope mine is fine and I don't have to, but when, I'll try it that way.
 
I wouldn't discourage anyone attempting doing it. I lack a lot of skills and it seems like steering wheels is among them.
