Welcome, 300blockhead

Thanks for letting me join! I have a 1965 Chrysler 300 383 four barrel. Its kind of a beater but as I'm sure you all know, its a lot of fun to drive, and turns a lot of heads.
Low compression in number 3 cylinder has gotten me into doing a valve job.
After removing the heads I notice some of the coolant passages from block to head are not the same. Also the tappet cover covers the two central passages. It definitely looks like everything has been apart before. So is this a common situation? Are they blocked intentionally?
Also there were no gaskets on the exhaust manifolds. I noticed no leak prior to disassembly.
Thanks for any input.

The No gasket on exhaust manifolds is correct from the factory. When I rebuilt my ‘68 I stayed with no exhaust manifold gasket’s. No leaks and no gasket to burn through

'65 is a good year, though your trans in sort of a one year only thing. Looks like you have a fairly high mileage motor from pics, so it may smoke and not have full power even after head work, but should run, as long it has good oil pressure, (you should probably put a mech oil pressure gauge on it). I'm not on this site as much as the FABO and FBBO sites, but if you have any engine questions you can PM me, or put them here and I will eventually see them.
Happy Motoring, John
