A good start.....

So my wife and I have spent the last two days answering questions from insurance Lawyers about a Motor Vehicle Accident my wife experienced on a city handicap bus 7 years ago. My wife was injured in this accident and is no longer able to use crutches to move around and is wheelchair bound. The insurance company offered a couple of physiotherapy sessions and nothing more. As we are currently in our 11th year of litigation for the accident that first injured her our Lawyer said what the hell lets go after the insurance company for compensation for her injuries which are real and debilitating. So here we sit being questioned by a young lawyer who has no idea what the mechanics of a wheelchair or the handibus are. If this had occurred in the US it would have been settled years ago. 7 years later for the bus accident and we are just now sitting down to litigate a frickin MVA. The big lawsuit for the accident in 2005 won't goto trial until 2019!!! WTF!! Anyway just thought I'd post this as i'm just a spectator here today and im bored. My wife is doing a great job of making this youngster look dense.

Dobalvr,
I'm so sorry for the pain, aggravation and loss of mobility that your wife has suffered. No amount of money can reverse that, but it can lighten or alleviate other day to day concerns. I hope and pray that this doesn't turn into just another futile exercise in the legal arena for the two of you.

Give 'em hell!!

They didn't realize they were dealing with a Red Headed School Teacher in my wife. She is doing well though but it's taking a lot out of her. Payback is great but she would give it all up to be able to walk again. Thank you everyone for kind wishes my wife says!!

Doba: Very sorry for what happened to your wife and also for the frustration you all must feel regarding this long drawn out lawsuit. I hope you prevail and gain a really huge settlement.

I had a business partner gone bad. Filed a claim in 92 and it finally went to court in 98. My lawyer was on a contingency and we won, but the 7 years of on and off stress wasn't worth it. In hindsight I probably wouldn't do it again.

In your wife's case where negligence leads to a personal injury you have to go for it, even if it drags out a few years. In the meantime I hope she is able to overcome the injury and live without pain.

Alberta is so far behind in trying civil cases due to lack of Judges Clerks etc that it will be 14 years before it comes to trial. Unfortunately it is unlikely she will walk again or be pain free. The best we can hope for is to be able to make her life more comfortable

Sorry for your wife's issues and hope it gets resolved soon. isnt it a sad state of affairs when nothing gets resolved without an attorney?

What do you need to make that happen?

At the end of the day a home that is designed for her use with the equipment she needs to keep what mobility she does have and vehicles designed for her needs - c body's are good but ....Also I want her to be seen by someone more experienced with her disability than the pineapples working in Alberta health care. Mayo,Boston U, etc might have a solution to her problem. That will take multiple six figures to explore.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife.
I used to think I was all alone in this situation.
Over the years, I have found several other FCBO members who are also caregivers to their beloved partners for life. It's a tough job but nobody's complaining. You just do the right thing and carry forward.
I don't feel quite so alone anymore.

What do you need to make that happen?
Ditto! Anything that some car guys could provide? Obviously we can't work the miracles that she deserves, but any ideas for anything else? Soemthign that would make her smile?

Guys you already have made a difference! I let my wife read many of your posts (not the F1 girls) as she is as enthusiastic about my c-bodies as I am. She loves being involved while I work. She has been with me since we were 17 and has seen all of my pursuits good or bad. She will sit in her chair and watch me wrench for hours(she can't be left at home alone so she has no choice but to come along) but as her needs will come first I don't get nearly enough time as I would like to play.

Feeling is mutual my friend! I have met more genuinely nice and helpful people through this forum than i ever did shilling cars. Someday we should get together with our ladies. We are in Ft Lauderdale fall 2017 for a Panama cruise so mb a couple of days early will allow us to rent a car and drive down for a visit. I can forward email phone etc but you probably have googled the hell out of me so you likely know what I had for dinner last night lol

Tell y'all what. When we win this lawsuit we will be spending some time in the US at hospitals trying to find some answers. Ill need opinions on where to stay etc in Boston Jacksonville Phoenix and so on. Seems there are plenty of FCBOer's in all these locations that we'd love to meet. Distractions from Doctor visits will be welcome!
