What is this knob on the dash of this '66 New Yorker? Is it original?

Looked at a New Yorker that had this knob/switch on the dash. Didn't seem to control anything and I'm not sure if it's original or not. The knob had flutes on it and turned.

Well it does have a trip odometer but that particular 'knob' looks like a bad design idea so I don't think it's the original if that's what its for .. would be heard on the knee caps in that location and sticking out that far.

It's an aftermarket bracket for some kind of device, like a compass.

I agree, minus the aftermarket stereo in the dash which necessitated surgery to fit.

Clock from a 65/66 Chrysler.

I have one in both of my cars. Those clocks are notoriously unreliable plus the cable is just another thing that gets in the way behind the dash.
