According the the factory sales brochure, the center medallion on the 68 Imperial stainless steel wheel cover was supposed to be a "die cast applique". Upon closer inspection when disassembled, the center medallion is painted plastic retained by a stainless ring with four tabs. Don't know whether I don't have original wheel covers or if everyone was BS'd in '68 by Ma Mopar. Used DOT 4 brake fluid to remove the sad remnants of existing paint to get a clean, clear medallion to work with. My question is what paint to use to restore the medallion to former glory? The eagle is gold and the surround is black. I see Testors model paint mentioned on a few threads here. Has it held up in the field or does anyone have a better suggestion?
