As you guy's know, I am getting reacquainted with my '73 chrysler newport. Hoping to pick back up where I left off a few years ago..

Took her out for a drive the other day, and the passenger side front caliper decided to start hanging up on me. So she will be needing some brake work here in the near future. This has got me started on what to do after the brake work, as she will also be needing tires sometime soon. With tires, I would like some different wheel's. I like the stock chrysler hubcaps, but not really my thing. They really add to the sleeper aspect of the car, but ehhh... want something else. I know you guy's are more into stock appearing, oem rides as possible, which I like as well. However this is my hotrod, and not to worried about it appearing stock. However I would deffinetly like to stay to stock mopar wheel's, unless something else really pop's out at me.

How the car currently sits-
Stock wheel's, hubcaps, and 225/75/15 tires (not sure of brandname)

I did have the slotted cop wheel's from my monaco on the newport once, and it did look good. However not sure if it is "the look" I want.
Police wheel's, and dog dish caps, with 235/75/15 tires

Currently here are the choices I am thinking
Police slotted wheel's with dog dish caps
B body rally wheel's
The c body road wheel's (I like em/but I don't at the same time, also they seem a little harder to come by)
Was also even thinking about keeping the stock wheel's, and painting them body color. I know this looks good on 4 doors, but don't think it would look so good on a 2 door...

Want to run a raised white letter tire with them. What do you guy's think? any input greatly appreciated!!

Put me down for big fat blackwalls on cop steelies and hubcaps after removing the vinyl roof. That would scream "Gentleman's Road Runner". All business, no nonsense...
PS: Stay 15" and don't go this 16 or up bullchit.

Where are those pictures taken? It looks like you are on a road course somewhere?

I like the way you make it sound! I do like the cop wheel's.. I guess just still a bit on the fence, but they have been #1 on the list so far.

The vinyl roof is probably going to stay though. The car has a couple rivets on the very top parts of the A-pillar, where the speaker's for the horse track were mounted. That will need some body work, and I think a new vinyl top will help hide any work done, I may be wrong, but doesnt the vinyl have to stay because of the sunroof? I thought a friend once told me that... Could be wrong though..

Don't forget to replace the brake hoses too.

Thanks 1978 NYB! The car will be getting all new front brake components in a couple weeks! I had to limp the car home with the caliper stuck. She was a smoking away at the stop light I got caught at lol. It got so hot, it liquified the bearing grease and it was dripping out of the dust cap. I found this after I removed the wheel a few hours later..

The photos were taking at a show in MI. The michigan mopar muscle club had the show at a local road race coarse. They only had the show there for 2 years as it got rained out both times, and you had to go down a dirt road to get to the show. It kept a lot of cars away. during the show they had races going on which gave you some entertainment, and during the lunch hour for the racer's the show cars got to do parade laps.. Well for legal sake we will say they were parade laps lol. Here is a few more pics.

I got all proud one year as my nepwort made it onto the paper flyer's they were handing out at the local car show's. They seem to have gotten rid of a bunch of picture's though. If you click on event pictures on the left side of that page, then click 2009, then mopars at the hill's show, you will see a very young bluesmobile in the picture's. She didn't even have a pushbar yet lol.

I like the dog dish look on black steelies however I do not like the slotted wheels. I also like raised white letters on the tires, contrary to Stan I think it adds to the aggressive appearance.

Bob and Dave posted pictures of this '70 or '71 New Yorker with rallies from Carlisle and I really liked it... I would go with 15"x 7" in front and 15"x 8" rear.

I'm not a big fan of the 73's, that's the year of what I call the "great transition"....body style change from fuselage to formal, BUT I like the way your car looks, very cool. Maybe it's b/c I see so many "4dr" 73' Newports....and then a clean 2dr comes along and really showcases what the body style could look like. Anyways, Kudos!

Thank you has2b. I knew I saw a pic around here of a fuselage with the rallies on here somewhere. They do look good! Idk if im big on them on that car though... I don't think they look the greatest with that trim running down the side. But they still look good, and don't look outa place.

Thank you for the complement 70fuselageimperial!

I hate the rallies on C bodies BUT they looked excellent on that 71 at Carlisle, possibly better than the road wheels would.

It was for me too, another big dummy mistake I made.

Yes, that was a steal compared to what you usually see for the selling price. Nice to see i'm not the only bonehead here, although maybe still the biggest one.

What's the story on that one?

April 2010, my tension-er pulley went bad on the pick up. The local NAPA didnt carry it for the 2500 so I had to go to the dealer. When I got to the dealer they had a new 2010 Plum R/T Challenger on the lot. I took my wife back on Easter Sunday(next day) to look at it. Obviously I had to go back Monday night to buy it. Traded in the 97' conversion van, got nothing for it, bring the Challenger home with a monthly $600.00 + bill. Once home I realize I have to keep the new car outside, that doesnt make sense does it? Keep the $40,000 car outside while the other stuff sits inside...... So I put every car I had up for sale, first one to go goes and the rest stay. I listed them on Craigslist and I got a call twenty minutes later about the brown car from a kid in Pennsylvania. He came back the next day with $3,500 and took the car.

I count about six big dummy mistakes in the above story. How many do you count?DSCF0214 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0215 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0216 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0217 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0218 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0220 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0221 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0222 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0227 (1024x768).jpgDSCF0229 (1024x768).jpg
