my 66 300 has a 1972 imperial engine and transmission, wit trans, advises me that the torque convertor for a 1966 727 transmisson, has to be sent in for R&R , is the torgue convertor for a 1972 imperial 727 transmisson, differant than the one for the 1966 that had a 383 motor in it?? thanks

Yes 1962-1966 727 converters have a different spline count and smaller diameter of the input shaft and stator support. That is the solid piece that input shaft goes through on the front of the trans.

Just get another converter, don't bother changing the 1966 piece to fit a 1967 and newer trans.

Your title mentions a rebuild kit. The kits are for 1962-1970 trans. And a different kit for 1971 and up.

Some kits will do them all but why? Just more money for parts you won't use.
