Will this front passenger wing vent window fit my '66 300?

Looking for a good used vent wing, would one from a '66 New Yorker fit? I assume it would.

Are you replacing the vent window frame, or just the glass? I don't think going from NY to 300 is an issue, but if they are different body styles it may not work.

I think it would fit even if it came from a 4 door, because the windshield is the same angle, so the vent should be the same. Other years in the same body style should fit to.

When I look at a four door I always think the vent size looks too big in respect to the front door window, because of the same size vent. I am used to looking at my larger door on my coupe in comparison to the vent.

Here are is a comparison.

I believe that sedans/wagons use one windshield and hardtops/convertibles use the other, so I suspect there are two different vent window glasses. As for the frames, even the convertible and hardtop are slightly different at the top.

I think you are right Dan. I believe all two door models share the same vent assemblies.

Dan: Do you happen to know if the Vent Wing Run Channel is the same for '65 and '66?

I would listen to Dan and Scott. They are much more knowledgeable I'm still learning.

Ah... well I already took the plunge and bought the one from the 4 door. Guess we'll find out Mine cranks open but won't crank closed and the cranks likes to wind out when you try and close it.

Sounds like you just need a new regulator to me, not a new vent window assembly.

These are vent window regulators. If your crank stem tries coming out when you turn it, I bet your regulator is bad.

That is exactly what is going on. Then I suppose I didn't need the window and instead need one of these?

Do you have everything torn apart yet? Best way to know is to look everything over. If its just the regulator, that is a much, much easier repair than changing out the vent frame, and readjusting everything. Pull the door panel and the regulator is held in by three bolts and a fourth bolt that goes from the regulator to the vent window. The fourth bolt that attaches to the window, once removed then the regulator has to slide off sideways, not down.

I haven't taken it apart yet, so maybe I bought this vent window for nothing. I will take a look tonight and see. What's a good source for a new regulator?

Rather than keep throwing parts at, I suggest taking it apart and finding the problem. The regulator can actually be taken apart. The bottom cap is crimped on. You may be able to repair what you already have. If not, start a thread in the wanted section. I may still have a good one left, but I cannot remember if its right or left side that I have. Also, once the regulator is out I would see how hard it is to open the vent window by hand. If its really hard to do, chances are it will eventually trash another regulator. Post the part number off the regulator you need. Lots of guys on here that are parting out cars.

Zymurgy, I'll trade half my knowledge for half the progress you've made on your car. :)

If the regulator can't be fixed it shouldn't be too hard to replace. All 65-68 C bodies use the same ones.
