Good saves, what else is there?

John had made a deal with yard owner prior to the crusher arrival.
We going to save 6 more FL cars then the crusher is going to flatten the rest.
A typical familiar story I’ve heard time and time again.

Old timer collects vintage cars.

Doesn’t fix them, sell them or part them ever.

One morning old timer doesn’t come down for breakfast

His family is not interested in old
cars.

Family doesn’t know what to do
but has watched Barret Jackson

City council who has always wanted him to clean up decides
they want the land for housing projects.

Greedy Real Estate Agents step in and tell widow to get rid of
(worthless) cars and they will be rich!!!

Scrap metal company arrives (china owned) and is too busy destroying everything to deal with saving old cars.
As a car collector you are just in
the way.

After clearing is done some sort of ground contamination is usually found and the family has
to pay their new fortune to some
Government environmental agency!!!!

IDK if that is the case here?
but I have seen it play out EXACTLY this way sooooo many times!!!!

The cars in this yard were basically tow yard cars from long ago. 50s60s70s
Dry dessert climate.
Most are complete and where not really parted!!!
For some reason many had their windows broken out?
Very nice diecast chrome
I estimate there is 800 cars there. I only walked through
35% of yard and took only a handful of rushed random pics before I was hurried out.
Scrap metal company didn’t want family selling off anymore cars (weight)to collectors.
I’m a however grateful to have been able to save the 61.

I have been to many of these yard closures over the years, but have never such dry solid not parted cars.

The following are just some random hurried pics of just a fraction of yard. There is just so much more there that I didn’t get to. Not too many muscle cars
though?

To put it scale of this tragedy.
I just posted some 70 + or - pics.
There is easily 10X that amount of cars there..!!!! Mostly vintage.
I only was able to walk 35% of yard.

Crushing was starting today

I will try to find out.
It’s in the front row of cars to go first.
The problem is that the scrap company doesn’t want anymore cars leaving to collectors now that the word is out there crushing.
A full sized American car weighs between 4-5000 lbs.
$300-$400 tops at scrapyard.
Guys are offering double that cash for cars and their being told
NO??????
I have my eye on this 59 Pontiac star chief.
I will be going back to help a friend pick up some of the cars
he already paid for.
I will take more pics and what I can workout.
:BangHead:
too late to get that one outta there? @SGT FURY
