I'd like to welcome all the loyal C Body fans to the 8th Annual C Body Show this year to a full day of fun and camaraderie among all C Body enthusiasts. This year we will be returning to the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois, on June 22nd.

Illinois Railway Museum · 7000 Olson Rd, Union, IL 60180

To register for the show, capture the QR code on your smartphone camera, and all the registration details to be completed for your registration will appear.

The Illinois Railway Museum is a terrific place to visit if you'd like to get a glimpse of the vehicles of transportation of a past gone era. The many acres of property include huge barns, housing trains and streetcars, buses and railway equipment, etc., that have been used over the last century. Many pieces of the equipment still operate on their private railroad track. The volunteers who help make this location a welcoming venue to our annual event are committed to making our show a success in 2024.

The entrance fee this year is $25 and will be collected at the gate of the museum before entering the grounds. The fee is for each classic car that enters the show, regardless whether you arrive with 1 or 6 people in your classic vehicle. All proceeds go directly to the IRM.
In addition, all registered attendees will be provided a food coupon when you sign in at the show that you can redeem in the IRM restaurant for a choice of several optional meals that have been arranged.

I have enjoyed putting this show on every year and have developed many good friendships over the years while doing this event, but 2024 will be my last one I will be sponsoring in Illinois, because I will be busy finalizing plans in 2025 with my move and moving my business to the new state of Tennessee. Once I get settled in the new location, I'll weigh the choices and locations to pick this annual show back up for 2026.
The only reason I mention this is because there have been many members over the years who wanted to attend this annual event but had to put it off for next year due to any number of circumstances, so I hope you all can make the show in 2024, along with all the returning C Body attendees who have made it to the shows in the past.

Let's make this show the best one ever.
Tim

Edit:
I forgot to mention in the initial post that the Chicagoland Mopar Club will be doing their car show in Fox Lake on Sunday, June 23rd. So just like every past show, I've planned this year to coincide with their event for it be a 2-day weekend of Mopar car shows for anyone traveling long distances.
Looks like a great show to go to but I'd have to drive through Toronto, Detroit and Chicago by the looks of it

It is not that bad.
Done it 3 times.
Toronto just before mid day rush hour, late lunch/ early supper in Detroit, and by the time I go through the Windy city it is after 9 pm and no traffic.
From Kingston I hit the 401 by 9am and hotel check- in by 11ish pm.
Another opton is go to Port Huron near Strathroy to avoid the Detroit altogether.
I really will miss this show. So sorry I cannot make it.
Grace shown in Chicago last year..

@cbarge Your burnout marks you left behind my shop were still visable for about a month after you headed back to Canada.

Well I'm rolling the dice and signed up. Now if my car (and myself) will just make the trip. Just did a 250 mile round trip without a major issue. But still a little shaky about such a greater distance.

I'm leaving Friday, if you want to roll down together send me a text.

With a pat on the dash next to St. Christopher, you should be just fine!

Today was a good day to tidy up some of the unfinished business for the 8th annual C Body Show, so I stopped over at the IRM in Union to finalize the meals the diner will be putting together for the register guests, which includes a good selection for all appetites IMO.
Some of you who came to 5th the show in 2021 remember we parked here....by the trolly loop.

Since the 22nd is the also be the same the day the IRM will have "Trolley Day" they will be running streetcars trolley buses too. As you can see, the trolley bus loop in the pic would be too busy with moving vehicles, so we decided to move to the open grassy field just next to it. (where I'm standing for this pic) and here...looking in the other direction....

The IRM opens at 10AM, however they will have Gates #2 open for us at 9:30AM. Enter the parking lot from Olson Rd here, and drive straight ahead.

Remember, 1 classic car entry fee of $25.00 will be collected at the gate before you can enter the property. As previously mentioned, the $25.00 fee covers 1 person, or as many people you can fit in your C Body. (2, 3, 10...?)

Once you find a parking spot, stop by my Pop-up Tent to register your car, and to get your food ticket(s) and raffle ticket(s), and a window card to fill out and place on your C Body on the show field.
The first 50 cars will also get a goody bag upon registering your C Body at the Pop-Up Tent.
Hang on to your raffle ticket, because later in the afternoon there will be a drawing maybe around 2 or 3PM for several giveaway prizes. (there are some good ones this year)
After the drawing, we need to get everyone together for the Group Picture this year. We've missed doing that the last couple times.
Hopefully, somebody can volunteer to round up the troops for the C Body Picture!

Feel free to tour the museum or ride the trolley's, if you and your party want to see the attractions at the IRM.

At some point we will all be ready to leave the show. I think it would be a good ending for this show if we all go to the local drinking establishment, Clasen's Tavern for to end off the day.
After leaving the IRM today I stopped over to let them know we might be there after we leave the C Body Show for a few drinks and wouldn't want to catch them off-guard if all of a sudden, 50 people showed up, and with them being understaffed.
They told me if we arrive around 4PM, there should be plenty of parking as it will be a "slow time" around 4PM.
You guys let me know if this sounds like a good idea. I'll just need to contact them to let them know we will be there.

We can sit inside or on the patio. Here's some pics of the joint....

There's plenty of parking at Clasen's Tavern for our C Bodies.
I still have a few more things to do, but the heavy lifting is done for 2024.

See everybody at the show and remember to register for the show if you haven't already done so.
Best,
Tim

As per the usual Tim has put together another great C body only show. I think a after the show spot to gather at Clasen's a great addition. 9 days till the 8th Annual C body Show. Can't wait to get there. Thanks Tim.

As your fleet is expanding are you hiring additional drivers as well?

Just a bit over 8 hours..... I am debating on riding the bike down since the car won't be ready. She might (fingers crossed) be running but not road tested enough for that drive.

Next year I'll bring her, anyone emember if Polara_500 ever made it to this one?

Tim isn't doing one in Chicagoland next year if that makes a difference to ya.
Not sure if any of us will be able to step up

I won’t be able to make this one Tim, but if you do something in Nashville, I am saying there is a chance.

I wish I could make the last installment of the Chicagoland C-Bodies show, but I'll be going to the Back to the 50s show in St. Paul that weekend.

Looking forward to seeing this evolving into a southern C-Bodies event .... Congratulations Tim on your upcoming move.

I haven't been to Back to the 50's in years. Always went there with mom and dad. Got way to big to see everything. Seemed like if it wasn't raining it was 90+ degrees. Dad loved the swap meet on Sunday.

Choose wisely...

Look forward to seeing you in Tennessee!

Mike never made it to Tim's shows, I know he had hoped to.

Anyone have some information on that Sunday Chicagoland show? Trying to decide when I'd be heading back home.
