Up for Sale OFFICIALLY! My 1968 Chrysler New Yorker project. Selling for a good cause. I know the general consensus here is that I should keep the car. Unfortunately right now in my life this car is more of a weight on my shoulders dragging me down. The positive thing, is selling it helps my little family of 3 out tremendously! My price is negotiable, but also consider the things I will include in the sale of this car.

First and foremost, the car as it sits is still a project car. However, the need to search for missing parts and whatnot is not necessary. I will be including my very large stash of 68 Chrysler Parts along with the purchase of this very awesome C Body. These parts include a complete set of the lower stainless rocker mouldings, multiple set of tail lights, interior components etc etc.

As it sits, it's a blank canvas for someone wanting to take this car to the next level. Whether it's for a stock restoration or for a family cruiser - the hard work has been done.

The original 440 was rebuilt back to stock specs, it starts up and runs great! The 727 trans was sourced from a 67 B or C Body car (based on the numbers we found stamped on it) and rebuilt entirely with a transgo TF2 shift kit installed. Front brakes have been converted to the very desirable 72 C Body setup with all components getting sandblasted, repainted and rebuilt. Sourced the correct C Body disc brake booster and had that rebuilt also. The car has new brake lines front and back. Frame has been meticulously wire brushed, degreased and repainted. Car has a new gas tank that needs to be installed. New Cold Case 26" radiator up front. Rebuilt steering box, rebuilt steering pump. All new bushings and tubular control arms up front. New ball joints etc. Everything has been taken care of...

Car was originally a vinyl top car, we removed the remnants of the vinyl top as well as the front and rear windshield to patch any rust holes that were present on the roof. Body is STRAIGHT, and has been a California car it's entire life

Interior-wise things still need to be put back together. The interior is gutted but I am currently having the front bucket seats and the rear bench seat re-upholstered. I don't have these back yet but will be getting them back shortly. The dash was removed to access the heater box, which was rebuilt using the kit from DMT, as well as having the evap core pressure tested, and installing a new heater core. Heater H Valve was replaced also. The dash is getting re-wired / repairing parts of the original harness that were damaged and upgrading components such as the flasher relay and we are installing LED lights for the idiot light panel.

Car has new 80/20 loop black carpet kit and a new headliner still new also, as well as kilmat insulation.

Again. This is a project car, but you're getting so much more than just a car missing a bunch of crap. If anything you'd be buying enough to build 2 of these cars LOL. I may be missing info on this post, but you know I am always open to answering any and all questions. You are always free to come see it in person or even via video chat. I have nothing to hide. I've been honest with my work showcased here the last 4 years. My departure from this car won't be the end of my time here on the forums. I still plan to get a 62 Chrysler even sometime next year, but a running car that I won't need to spend eons working on just to enjoy with my family. The car is taking up space at my friend's place, and although I should be spending time there working on it - I find myself spending more time with my wife and son the way it should be. Sad to let the car go but would feel a great relief to see it go to someone who can finish it!!

My asking price is $12k for everything I am including. I will continue to try putting everything back together until someone buys it. However I'm putting it out there now you could come buy this car whenever. I've got far more than what I'm asking invested into this car. My loss is truly your gain.

I am working on getting a CA title for this car as I bought it on bill of sale. I've taken the VIN to someone local to me who helps people register cars like mine, and she says there are no back fees / the car isn't even in the system anymore. I couldn't obtain a title however because I needed to get the car vin verified which I have been putting off. Didn't plan on selling the car before so I lagged on it but now am working on getting someone out here to verify it for me so I can take the paperwork back - OR you could purchase the car and figure it out yourself especially if you are not from CA. Please contact me with any more questions. I'm happy to provide pictures and more details and answer any questions you have.

To the best of my knowledge if there is no vin label on the inside of the rear of the driver side door edge and no emission decal on the inner left front wheelhouse, it is likely the car would need to be taken to a CHP office to find the hidden VINS stamped into the sheetmetal in areas specific to a 1968 model. California no longer has VIN verifiers who can come to your vehicle location and fill out such a form anymore - it has to be done by the CHP. It would be a good idea to know where those discreet areas of the body are where the stamped VINs are located to speed up the process. The CHP guys usually don't know where they are unless you have done the homework before going there.

If those labels do exist mentioned above then the car could be transported to a California DMV office and based on such labels would be approved for going forward with getting a title. In the city my CA DMV office is located they require that your vehicle be "complete" and that the fenders/ wheelhouses/hood and bumpers would need to be on the car and that most of the underhood components such as engine, radiator, etc be in place. Your helper would know what your DMV Office would require for sure in getting it titled would need to write a specially crafted statement about how you have had the car a long time and is no longer in the system. One version could say you intended to use it as a parts car but now you decided you want to restore it and get it titled and that the car has never been parked on or driven on any roads since you bought it.

The amount of work you have already done to the car already justifies your price from what you have said and what I am seeing. The body looks rust free and very straight too and is a very desirable two door model as well with very nice styling.

Tough decision indeed.

Best wishes.

There are no hidden VIN numbers on a 1968 C Body. There are numbers that are codes that are stamped on the top of the cowl under the weatherstrip and another is under the trunk weatherstrip. The inspector should have a code book to decipher the code number. I went through this 20+ years ago with a Connecticut DMV inspector who insisted that there was a second VIN number somewhere until he looked it up, found the code on the cowl and decoded it.
