Hi All,

I am looking for driver side A pillar post holding for my 1972 Chrysler Newport Custom 2dr 440. Could anybody knows that same year Mopar or Plymouth has the same size A pillar post? My car is waiting for OldTimer certification exam in Hungary and my A pillar post molding is broken. Could anybody help where I can get one or can I use any from other brands in the Chrysler family?

Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you for posting your GY4 Chrysler, @Istvan -- I own a 1972 GY4 Chrysler too, though mine is a 2dr hardtop NYB.

You may find some relevant information in the thread I have for Buttercup. As well, the 1972 Chrysler Thread may be of use to you. To the best of my recollection, neither thread mentions the driver-side A pillar BUT I recently went through a similar search for Medina, my 1971 Monaco that is currently undergoing a refurbishing/repainting. The part I have would not work for your car, because (AFAICT) yours is a sedan and so it has the taller roof -- like the wagon, but unlike the hardtops (@CBODY67 or @71Polara383 can confirm, but I think I am correct). What I did to find the part was to look up the parts manual. Yours is here:

Parts Manuals – MyMopar

Download the PDF file, find the part number, and then start searching online. @71Polara383 or @70 Sport Suburban may have a good used part, as may others.

PS: would love for you to post about your car's history and fender tag in the 1972 Chrysler Thread.

Assuming you mean the A Pillar plastic? That part is the same for 69-73 all C bodies 2dr and 4dr hardtop

I have one I'd sell, but if there's something already across the pond, that'll be the fastest for you.

Is his car a hardtop or a sedan? If the latter, I was thinking you might have one from the 1973 green NYer sedan that you parted out a few years back.

His looks like a 2dr and I have plenty. They fit 2dr and 4dr hardtop. Like windshields. Wagon and sedan. 2dr/4dr hardtop. Except in this case the convertible pillars are on their own...for obvious reasons.

You're right. What I mistook for a B pillar, is a rear window that's not been pulled down. Next time, I should read the OP more carefully as @Istvan explicitly says it's a 2dr...

Thank you very much for the help! I check what we have here in EU based on the PN.

Yes, it is the plastic cover.
Thanks for the help. I check what we have here in EU for the 69-73 C body. I am afraid, That will hard to find. I would turn back if I can not find any.

Don't forget to share your car's story and the fender tag -- I don't know of many other T-code Newports!

Obviously they didn't make a '72 convertible, but for earlier fuselage cars, the convertible is the same piece, just the top few inches are cut off. I honestly think that's the way the factory made them.

it does look to be that way certainly...

Well, I found some for B and E body Mopar from 70's mostly for Plymouth and Dodge, Chrysler was not mentioned. I am not sure those could fit.

E body will not work.
I know on Ebody that the convertible pillar trims are indeed hardtop trims that are cut down.

Do the Imperial A pillar trims work on the other C bodies as well? 69-73.
