Subject: What a great time
I was 15 years old & took a Greyhound Bus from Birmingham Alabama to DC to see the Dead for my first time. I was invited backstage. Because I was blown away because of my good fortune, I was like in awe. Garcia sat down at a table where I was sitting alone. I don't recall him saying anything... But he pulled out a joint from his shirt pocket, fired it up & passed it to me. I didn't say anything either. At the time I worshiped Jerry Garcia and I was so taken with my good fortune to sit within 5 feet of him that I couldn't think of anything to say.
I had a great time & wandered through the crowd, making my way backstage an hour or so later. A roadie with the Allman Brothers shared a little Cocaine with me. It was a good time.

Saw lots of shows between 82 and 95, More of a Wharf Rat during the touring time, sober was better for me. Still some great music and lots of good folks. Really learned how to wrench on old cars!

Saw my 1st Dead show outdoors in Phoenix in 1989 or close to that date. Compton Terrace south of town. My friend and I ate some shrooms..a low enough dose so that we could
dance. At one point we were up above the band on a grassy slope and these 2 girls about 18 years old came swirling by us. They spun by and all we could say was "cool".
They had no clothes on. Two of our friends had planned on meeting us there but Diane and Nancy made the mistake of eating the shrooms too early. By the time they got in
their vehicle they were more than confused and ended up getting to the concert for the last song. They had gotten "lost" and ended up way too far north of the venue.
Saw the band in Eugene, Long Beach and Vegas too. Always fun and the food served after the show in the parking lot was amazing. Those Deadheads always came through
after the shows.

Also saw Hendrix at ASU Feb. 5th 1968. $3.00 The Soft Machine opened. Blew my mind. I have the small flyer for the concert in a frame in my living room. About 300.00 value now!

I saw Jerry Berry 1 time in Denver. That was amazing! I think it was 93 or 94.
I had been going to the Rainbow festivals and hanging with the rainbow people which led me to the shows.
Would go just to hang out and "trade" in the dead village. Had been doing that with the heads at the rainbow gatherings for years and decided to start doing that at the dead shows. They never had weed and always had the happy "family" paper.
Sure wish I had seen more of ole Jerry. He was amazing! They were amazing!

Now, the Hendrix show. JEALOUS!! Would have loved to see the man. Of all the people to see, he is the guitar GOD.
I have 87 hendrix albums to date and always collecting any hendrix vinyl that I run across. Going a few states over in a few months just to bid on a box of Hendrix albums.
