Does anyone know if it’s possible to use a 72 and earlier hood latch on a 73? My 73 fury has a broken cable and they seem to no longer be made. I’d rather do away with it and just go to a manual latch. The latch itself looks the same as my 69 T&C.

I believe the cables were separate items, just that the latch was adapted to have a place for the cable to hook in rather than the place the basic hood release level was located. Variations of the same basic latch.

As for Interchanges, you'd need to consult the "salvage yard" oriented Hollander's Interchange Manual. Seems like there's a download on the www.mymopar.com page? That would indicate interchanges and what might be needed to make them "will fit with modifications" work on your vehicle.

In these cases, using the Chrysler parts book might not give the informaiton you need, unless the same item, exactly, was used over several model years or if a later model superseded a prior part number, so it "back-dates" to earlier models. Drilling an extra hole, for whatever reason, would result in a different part number, for example.

Do you need the cable only?

I have a good used hood release cable from my 73 fury parts car. I am located in the san antonio Tx area. I can ship

Thank you for the replies! I found a 1970 Fury latch assembly, I’m going to see if I can fabricate it to work. Unfortunately any used cable is just as old as mine and no telling how long till I’m in the same bind again.
