Any one interested in watching a derby build thread as I go?? Grabbed this one today for a show in a couple months

Not being a dick, just my honest opinion, but count me out. Watching the destruction of these in one form or another is like pullin teeth. I know she's yours and it's your right as the owner, but why couldn't it be a Lincoln Continental?

Lincoln's are junk, frame has fist sized hole at trans crossmember, both tops of quarters at rear pillar have fist sized holes both quarters are rusty and full of bondo. And passenger seized floor pan is open from firewall to rear seat. No one was gonna fix it. I restore A bodies....i know better they all arent worth saving

Well, with all due respect, when we look at the pictures of that car, what WE see is some great outer sheet metal and LOTS of good parts. Including body parts! Now, the not-seen body might be rusty, but all of that stuff can usually be replaced/rebuilt with some good fab skills, plus time/money/desire. I suspect that many in here would rather see that car become a donor car for somebody else's restoration than to "Die" as you intend. Just because you might be more oriented toward A-bodies should not mean you will destroy other larger Chrysler platforms just because you can, does it? So what if the Imperial is the "last car running" at the end of the derby, like a victorious gladiator? At least winning gladiators got pampered after their victories and lived to see another day.

At least sell the parts removed for derby use to others in the Imperial orientation to use on their cars rather than dumpstering them, please! Including the glass items!

I ALWAYS list parts here for sale literally everything I dont need that is salvageable that isnt complete trash I have listed here for a few years anyway. I have sent parts across the US and over seas from cars. Haters gonna hate but i see what cars dont sell for on here that us derby guys will pay but see complaints on here that they arent giving away cars. I paid $1000 for it and interior is destroyed and all the above things with rust. I chose this one to post about soley because it is a rusty bondo bucket

It's good the car at least goes out with a bang!

I would like to see your build. Those things look awesome with stacks coming out of the hood. Do you use Mopar drive train or something else? Good luck with your build and be sure to post pics before and after!

Owen11x you started out all wrong. You should have stated the bad about the car then stated what was it would be used for. That still wouldn't go over well as we see straight sheet metal that isn't reproduced and can be obtained from a catalog. Think of how something will be received before doing.

Are Imperials allowed in derbies anymore? They were too stout for the GM and fords to compete.

Might check into that before the destruction.

Been derbying for 12 years and my dad for 45 years. Imperials have been allowed to run all over for the last 2 years ago for the most part! Things that Sucks is the 2003-2011 crown vics are tougher than imperials now
