Just great, I am working out of town for a couple more days. The wife calls and said the car is throwing a warning for low oil pressure. At least she was smart enough to park it. It's a 2013 with about 5000 miles on it....if that. I m hoping the sending unit took a crap, but here is what scares me; three weeks ago I changed the oil in it. First oil change I think on car. Pretty sure. So when she told me about the warning, I immediately thought I got a bad oil filter or the filter failed. I checked the oil level after changing it, and checked for leaks. Drove it a couple miles then parked it in the garage. She said there has been no signs of leaking and she has driven the car a few times over the last couple weeks around town.

so I hit the internet, and I see many guys reporting failed sending units. But man, this car is pretty much brand new. Has me worried. I guess that's what warranty is for if there is something major wrong, but the timing sure seems coincidental. I use quality oil that I made sure met the Mopar specs for the Hemi and used a WIX filter.

I suppose the dealer is not close either. I wouldn't worry it's under warranty. I'm sure the dealer will take care of it.

Nearest dealer is 75 miles. And unfortunately, they aren't the selling dealer so I highly doubt they will be bending over backwards for us to get the car to them. LOL

Been there I had one towed 60 miles to the dealer because the local one refused to work on it. I'd screw a manual gage into it and check it and if it's good drive it there so they can fix it. I'd still call the local dealer and see if they will you never know.

Yeah I will have to see if I have enough fittings to get the manual gauge in, if not I will throw it in the car hauler and take it up there I guess. Ugh....dealerships. I am tempted to just order the fifty dollar sending unit and trying that first.

I don't care if the closest dealer is a million miles away. It's their problem. Tell them to come and get it.

That's right, the car is brand new, they need to accommodate you. I hope they do.

I agree on having to deal with dealers. Tire dealers and car dealers are neck and neck to see who the bigger thief is, they both sell products that are worth 2/3 as soon as you say "yes" and they want to sell warranties on rapidly deteriorating products and if you come back its song and dance "wait right here I'll check on that" when there is a problem.

Same issue on my '05 Magnum. Replaced the sender, issue solved. It'll shortly be followed by the MAP sensor.

Did you change the oil yourself,,,,I have heard from a couple of mechanics that some new cars have a procedure you have to follow after you change the oil or you can damage the motor,,

BTW,,if you do the oil changes yourself the dealer may not accept that as service done by a quailifid tech,,voiding your warrenty They won't even look at your reciepts,,I have a friend who did this to his wifes Mazda 626 and felt he could do a better job and save a couple of bucks, when the motor went bad he tried to have it replaced under the dealer warrenty and they told him just that,,you voided your warrenty by not having a certified shop do this service,he had a pile of reciepts and they wouldn't even look at them,,that motor was a ***** to replace,
And with the price of oil nowadays and a shop usually charging less than $30 for a change why would you even bother,,,,and they keep a record of the service they have done to your car dealers will accept.
Good luck.

They will try to get out of responsibility for sure. I would rely on dealer service for the first year or so if only for that reason; but then I never owned a car younger than ten years. Let's hope it's just the sending unit.

I talked to the selling dealership this afternoon. He asked if I recently changed oil. When I said yes, he asked if it was a Mopar oil filter. I said no. He advised to change the filter to a Mopar filter and see what happens. He has seen other brand filters throw the code he says. Sounds weird to me. So I ordered a couple mopar filters through napa that arrive tomorrow. Service tech said if that doesn't fix it, to bring it in. He is pretty sure that it will. It would reAlly surprise me if that is the case, unless napa totally screwed the pooch on the filter part number. He said it might take a few key cycles during a couple days of driving to clear the code. He didn't sound worried about driving it though. The wife said the display said 41 psi of oil pressure. So it must be right near a threshold.

Oil change is straight forward. Just have to reset the oil life monitor which is simple.

It's a tough call,,,you have just contacted the dealer and it's on record you didn't use a factory approved filter,,and you did it yourself,,41 psi sounds ok but if you haven't followed the factory guidlines,,,,if you slide through this one DON'T EVER HAVE ANYONE CHANGE YOUR OIL UNLESS IT'S A CERTIFIED SHOP THAT KEEPS RECORDS A DEALER WILL ACCEPT,,,,,,, otherwise you will lose in the fine print,,,

I called my son who by no means an expert and on his 300c it runs 20 plus pounds at an hot idle and about 50 cruising and higher as the rpms increase.
I've used wix and mopar filters on my 04 Ram and never had a problem. I think the wix filters are way better than stock filters. I ran them in my old stealth at 7300 rpms with no problems ever.
