Low oil pressure warning on Hemi 5.7L

It's a tough call,,,you have just contacted the dealer and it's on record you didn't use a factory approved filter,,and you did it yourself,,41 psi sounds ok but if you haven't followed the factory guidlines,,,,if you slide through this one DON'T EVER HAVE ANYONE CHANGE YOUR OIL UNLESS IT'S A CERTIFIED SHOP THAT KEEPS RECORDS A DEALER WILL ACCEPT,,,,,,, otherwise you will lose in the fine print,,,

Total BS. And for what it's worth, no name or VIN number was given when I talked to the service guy. And I will continue to change my own oil. I am not a "the sky is falling" kind of guy.

I called my son who by no means an expert and on his 300c it runs 20 plus pounds at an hot idle and about 50 cruising and higher as the rpms increase.
I've used wix and mopar filters on my 04 Ram and never had a problem. I think the wix filters are way better than stock filters. I ran them in my old stealth at 7300 rpms with no problems ever.

Thanks for checking into it. I have never had a problem with Wix filters before either. They are not usually my first choice, but I am not (or at least wasn't) afraid of using them.

Absolutely no way that it's the filter. 41 psi at what RPM?

As far as factory guidelines??? It's oil, you drain the old out & put new in, that's it.

I do run full synthetic in all mine though since, as was alluded to in a thread about cop cars, the 5.7's shut down cylinders at cruising & that whole mechanism is controlled by oil pressure & (So I've been told) has a tendency to get clogged up if your oil gets at all gummy. I just use straight synthetic & change it way more often than I probably need to.

That would be mds system and it does drop down to 4 cylinders. My son can turned his on and off with his tuner.

FLAME SUIT ON! Boy do I have egg on my face. This issue has been weighing on me all day, so I call the wife and ask her to dig up the NAPA receipt and give me the oil filter number so I can research it. She says yadda yadda and six quarts of 5-20. bingo bongo bango...........LOL. Man I feel like a dip ****. Easy fix though.

It throws a code because i the oil filter doesn't say Mopar on it.
That is the biggest crock of BS I have yet to hear come out of a Service Manager's mouth.

Those were my exact thoughts. But I also thought about some anti drain back and thought maybe the car detected low oil pressure right at start up. But the napa receipt says it all. Evidently I can't even change oil right any more. I changed oil in three vehicles that day. Now i need to go check the other two. LOL

I did use only Royal Purple synthetic in my truck since after the break in oil change. At almost $10 a quart.....I've decided to use Mobil 1 and Mobil one filters.

AAP has a special going on right now. 5 Qt jug of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 oil filter for $31.99. Can't beat that.....it's almost $60 regular price. I bought 7 oil change specials. It seems like they have a regular and synthetic oil and filter special going on every month. I'm not paying full retail for oil and filters any more.

BTW, I change the oil/filter in my truck every 5000 miles since I run full synthetic.

So you were down a quart? Coulda been a lot worse.

For $30 I take the new cars to the dealer and let them handle it. If anything goes awry, it's on them.

When I was on my trip last year I was shocked at the low price the dealer charged for an oil change. I paid $30 in GA and $40 in AZ. About 1/2 the going rate up here. And then there was the pre-paid oil change packages that brought the price down to less than $25/change.

Yup. I am continuously getting coupons from my local dealer for $19 oil changes (extra charges for HEMI) and usually pay under $30 out the door. Besides that, I get a free multi point check including brakes. The $30 or so dollars is definitely worth my time. I don't let anyone touch my classics but I don't have the time or desire to fuss with the new cars.

My dealer has a oil change and safety inspection for 16 dollars.
It's a loss leader of course to find other stuff your car needs right away or you'll die in a fiery explosion on the way home.
After the 17 "No's", I get away with the sixteen dollars and have made it home safely every time.
How many damn overpriced Genuine FoMoCo air filters "to protect my warranty" do I need a year, anyway???

We went with Wix for the 59 Cadillac filters, because no one else makes them.

And for what it's worth, the bypass valve in the Mopar filter is way different than the wix. It still works, just way......way different. I compared them yesterday at NAPA.
