Medina, a 1971 T-code Monaco

That

That's what I'd call a "mirror finish". Can't wait to see the rest of stripe-delete paint job.

There was... I got in line in 2011 , Stan got in line behind me. The list was about five years out. Then Chris retired. Stan sold his car, I sold my Rose Bowl car and I guess that was that.
Yes, was dealing with some health issues, still am but doing what I can while I can. Trying to pace myself so I can do as much as I want to do. This is a tough trade on an aging body.

I learned some of the biz from my brother in law back in the 80’s. He just turned 75, but gave up on full paint jobs 20 years ago. Now he only picks collision jobs. I’d like to get my car done before I become a legendary member, but it’s been tough finding someone around here to finish the work I started.

Ok time to unveil the new Medina! First some finished pictures and then I'll post the progress pictures I took along the way.

:thankyou::thankyou::thankyou:

@azblackhemi and I have two small things to do to complete the car. A Monaco crest with laurels (P/N 3568596) needs to be affixed to each rear quarter panel, and a Pentastar medallion (P/N 2785540) needs to be affixed to the RHS fender bottom. The crests are in the Midwest, and the Pentastar will soon be on its way too.

@ayilar shipped Medina out to me back in October and I wasn't scheduled to work on it until after I finished the 70 AAR cuda that I'm currently working on. However the cuda was delayed a couple months waiting on parts and the unibody shop to replace frame rails. During the delay I was able to get Medina done sooner than planned. Before I got it Wyatt disassembled her and stripped the vinyl top and welded some patches around the rear window. I took it from that stage. Here's some pictures from when it first arrived.

Medina was a NY car. Since I lived in NY my first 23 years I wasn't surprised at what we found behind the lower moldings. Actually I was expecting worse.

Here's pictures of the paint process. Getting the Tawny Gold color right was difficult but after about 3 trips to my paint store we got it. This color flops from gold to green to brown depending on the light. Luckily I have a 40+ year relationship with my paint guys and one is a color matching wizard!
