I have a 1957 Chrysler 300C sedan that's missing the data plate - left of the radiator? Looking for an example of one to make for it. Is there an example somewhere? Much appreciated!

I would HIGHLY recommend joining the Chrysler 300 Club International. This will be, by far, the best and most correct source of information you can have for a 300 letter car. They can not only answer this particular question, but they can tell you what the codes mean and all sorts of other details specific to the 300. Additionally, they keep a registry of all known 300s and may have history on your specific car. For $35/year, it's well worth the money of a membership. memberinfo

Also, it is not a sedan. It's either a hardtop or a convertible if it is a 1957 300C.

Thanks, Ff56! I am in the 300 club, and have inquired about the plate. Found someone who makes them but he needs a photo of one. CA DMV is a pain and requires it, otherwise I go through the CHP again to re-register it.

Were you able to contact the 1957 tech advisor specifically? A photo of one seems like the sort of thing they might be able to provide. I know the club can also provide you with a decoding from the Chrysler microfilm that they have, which would authenticate your car and the options that the original data plate would have had on it so you know how to recreate it.

I did receive the data from the microfilm, but haven't talked with a tech advisor. As far as recreating the plate, there is only one source that I've been provided with and he doesn't know the '57 300C plate specifically without an example.

The www.jholst.net website (might need to input that address manually) is oriented toward 300 Letter Cars specifically, but also has a lot of normal Chrysler stuff in it (as to parts and service manuals there). Might be something in the front of the parts books (as there is in later model years) as to the format of the data plate, but not its specific size. I have not specifically looked.

Just some thoughts,

I am a director of the www.chrysler300clubinc.com and would like to work with you on '57 Chrysler Body Data Plates. Attached are pictures of a Body Data Plate from a 1957 Chrysler 300.
