CE27L0C139414 was up for auction at Freije & Freije in Indiana ten days ago. I just saw a link by chance today, and managed to save some photos for records. No fender tag, unfortunately, but the car seems well optioned.

From the ad: "SELLING ON BEHALF OF CLARK COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT 1 SEIZED DURING THE JAMEY NOEL INVESTIGATION, NO RESERVE, ODOMETER READS: 39,576"

Howdy
It's amazing how many Newport Convertibles are for sale at the moment. With the current bid at 15k it must be really nice. That also makes me believe that my 70 Newport is priced nicely.

"What led to Jamey Noel's arrest?
Much of the damning evidence in the case has been released as part of the lengthy investigation into Noel's corruption and use of public funds to support he and his family's lavish lifestyle. Noel, who served as Clark County [Indiana] Sheriff from 2015-23 and also led New Chapel Fire/EMS and the Utica Township Volunteer Fire Department, has for months faced allegations he used millions of dollars from the agencies for his own use.

The former sheriff is accused of using credit cards from the agencies to pay for a massive car collection, an airplane and bills for his kids, including rent and college tuition. There are millions of dollars in charges, all outlined in official court documents.

Noel was arrested in November 2023 on 15 felony charges related to fraud, misconduct, theft, ghost employment and public corruption after a nearly year-long investigation. More charges were filed against him in early February, including theft and tax evasion."

That's the meat of it. I wonder what other cars? Newport seems “tasteful“ and unbutchered, so at least no crime there.

Agreed. I will let specialists tell me if the car has been repainted, but the first photo below lets me to believe that if it has then at least it was in the original ER6 Scorch Red ( @azblackhemi -- thoughts?)

Thanks John

Since May, it got new 17" torque thrusts, all new ignition, rebuilt carb (it had been 4bbl swapped), new radiator, new fan, new water pump, new motor mounts (motor mount broke on WOT and slung the fan into the rad).

By the end of the summer, it will have a front disc conversion and new TTI exhaust.

I just happened to come across this post while searching around.
In case any of you guys still had questions, I'm the guy that bought this car.
Welcome to FCBO! It’d be great if you could post a photo of the fender tag in the Last Convertibles thread.

CE27L0C139414 is one sweet combination! Looks great!
Would like to see more pics of the car and what has been changed or done to the car.
Not many of these cars on 17's. Wonder what that looks like.

I'll try to get you some soon. Nothing too drastic has changed beside what was already mentioned.
I just finished the TTI exhaust this week (went smooth with the exception of having to cut, reclock, and weld the passenger manifold flange).
Hopefully this weekend I'm installing the 1971/72 disc hardware I recently purchased and restored. I have another thread going right now where I'm figuring out whether I want to just run the known good old drum distribution block or switch to the recently purchased used one-piece combination valve.
