Some will disagree but I replaced the chrome wheels and white letter tires on my 69 Monaco with whitewalls and factory wheel covers. My thinking is on a 4dr the chrome wheels make it look like I'm making it into something it's not. I just think the stock factory look fits this car much better.

I always DID like those particular wheel covers and whitewalls on those cars! A more-sophistated and powerful look than "pretender hot rod style wheels and tires', to me.

I agree that it looks much better with those hubcaps! I found a set of dodge caps just like that at a wrecking yard years back and had them on a 79 dodge magnum I had back in the 80's. Your car looks very good like that!

The right wheel for the right car " the shoes make the man". I think that choice of aftermarket wheel was a bad one . The choice of factory wheel cover is always a good one as it is one of the best ever. There is a few aftermarket wheel choices that would be OK too.

Yeah I really didn't choose those chrome wheels, they chose me as they came on my 79 300. I put them on the Monaco so I could drive it until I had time to buy and put on these. Haven't had much time lately for my own cars. :BangHead:

I concur. Mags make a "wanna-BEEEEEE" look. All the same, I'm curious about your plans for the recently removed ones. See, I need some sturdy wheels for Gertrude, and while I plan to work over the set of 16 slot '71 rally rims I have for her, they need a good deal of SWEAT. I priced stripping service here, and would rather sweat that myself. But, a good set of wheels for the interim might please the Boss down here..... So, I'm curious.

I remember when Cragar S/S wheels came out in the later 1960s. The "In" wheel as everybody that perceived themselves as "car oriented" had to have a set on whatever they were driving. THAT got boring! I was not that excited about them to start with. But the Magnum 500s, THAT was a nice wheel! Not sure why Chrysler was "behind the curve" on 15" sizes and narrow 5.5" rim widths? Ford put 15x7s on their HOT Mustangs of that era.

Some wheels, by observation, just seem to be "accepted" on Chrysler products if the particular ones never were available on Chrysler Corp vehicles. Notably the Magnum 500 15x7 4.25" backspacing full-chrome wheels.

To each their own . . .

I remember from the 1970s how Cragar rims had become the Suburban Conformo wheels of Necessity, on Cum-aeros and Fireturdz especially, along with sundry other consumer products, particularly near decade's end.

I suspect Chrysler Corp had beancounters sniping at any proposals for better wheels for their rides. Mind you, Chrysler Corp came within a few pubic hairs thickness of being Chrysler Corpse during that unhappy time, due to numerous Bad Decisions. The M1 tank had more to do with saving them than anything Iaccoca did for civilian wares I suspect.... The FED at least knew damn good and well what Good **** Chrysler made!

That...is actually a really good idea. Gonna do that right now to my police hubcaps...those definitely weren't cheap.

I like the look of both of them. Two different personalities. I have the same set of wheels I was going to put on the 72 Newport as they are wider then the C body road wheels on there now. I also have a set of Rallye wheels that I don't think would look right on the port but I found a set of 72 Chrysler hubcaps as well.

I have been too busy working on my Duster to do anything with the car so it sits neglected under the carport. :(
